Bittersweet Sovereignty
A Two Capsule Collection
A Two Capsule Collection
A Two-Part Series where "SHE" is the reimagined femme fatale who is no longer a muse confined by projection, but the author of her own story.
Hey There Delilah
The unconventional femme fatale commands her sensuality with unapologetic grace. The night becomes her stage where enigma and beauty reign supreme.
The Zenith of Her
An iconic beauty chooses anonymity and ease. Vibrant, playful, and unguarded yet shadowed by quiet nostalgia. This work is born from frustration and defiance of the fragile feminine ideal that I grew up watching in soap operas. “SHE” was made cruel because ambition alone wasn't villainous enough. So that we won’t see ourselves in her. A woman couldn’t just be unapologetic, that wasn’t enough to despise her. She had to be the kind who can only do evil and be heartless. Because heaven forbid a confident woman be unapologetic and powerful yet kind and lovely.
This work merges contemporary textile manipulation and digital innovation, then delves further through the lens of heritage block printing. The block printing process has been carried out on deadstock fabrics, making use of readily available materials and dye substitutes, combined with a few DIY printing methods. The block prints serves as an extension of the two collections, continuing their exploration through heritage textile narratives.
